Weekly Update 9/13/17

Announcements 9/13/17

It was good to see everyone back at school today safe and sound and mostly with power. We still have a few students and faculty who do not have electricity back on yet. We are hoping their issues are resolved quickly.

A few important announcements for this week:

* Students will be dismissed at 1:00 on Friday. Middle and high school students will not be served lunch that day and break will be at 9:00 am.

* For the next two weeks students will not be assigned homework. Students will be issued a log to record how they spend their time after school. Please help your child to keep an accurate accounting of this time.

Enjoy your day and stay safe!

Important Information to Start the Year

Welcome to Sixth Grade! Below is some important information to help you get the year started off right. Remember that information about each individual academic class is located in the tabs at the top of the page.

*Bookmark this page for easy access during the year. Announcements will be posted here and homework, assignments, and individual class information will be located on the subject pages.

*Make sure you have the supplies on the supply list. The list can be found HERE.

*Visit the bookstore to get the required vocabulary workbook and grammar access code. Bring the code to class. We will be signing up together. If you do not make it to the bookstore, send a check for $30 to school on the first day, so your student may purchase these items.

*Get a school picture order form from your homeroom teacher during Open House. Pictures will be taken on the first day of school.

*Make sure you have completed Module 1 training and have signed up for Module 2 technology training. Remember: students will not receive laptops until this training is completed. We will begin using the computers in class on Tuesday, August 15.

*If you have not joined Dawgs 360, please contact Elizabeth McDonel (emcdonel@gwa.com) for more information on how this program will benefit your family and GWA.

*Some important dates to remember:
     * 8/21/17 Eclipse Day - we will start and end school one hour later than normal so that we can take advantage of this opportunity to observe the eclipse.
